SongBash

Questions & answers

For guests 🎢

SongBash is in beta β€” thanks for being an early user.

Do I need an app or an account?

No. Scan the DJ's QR code (or open their link), type your song, and send β€” a few taps, no download, no sign-up.

When am I charged for a tip?

Only if the DJ accepts your song. When you tip, we place a temporary hold; it becomes a real charge the moment the DJ accepts it. If they decline it or never get to it, the hold is released and you're never charged.

How do I know if my song gets played?

If you add your email, we send you one link to a live status page that shows every song you request at that gig β€” updating from Waiting to Accepted to Played on its own. One email, no spam.

Do I have to tip, and what does a tip do?

Free requests are available whenever the DJ turns them on. A tip is optional and moves you up the queue β€” the DJ sees the highest tips first. You only pay the amount you choose.

Is my card safe, and who sees my info?

Payments are handled by Stripe β€” SongBash never sees your card details. The DJ only sees your song, your nickname and note (if you add them), and your tip amount.

For DJs 🎧

SongBash is in beta β€” you're one of our first DJs. Tell us what feels rough.

What does it cost me?

SongBash costs nothing to use. When a tip comes in, it's a 5% platform fee plus Stripe's processing fee, and you keep the vast majority β€” you can see the exact dollar breakdown on every tip.

Do I need Stripe set up to start?

No. Free requests work right away. You only set up payouts β€” a quick, one-time Stripe setup (~5 minutes) β€” when you want to collect tips.

How and when do I get paid?

Tips go straight to your bank through Stripe. Payouts are automatic and daily; your first payout is held about 7–14 days (Stripe's standard new-account hold), then daily after that. Tap β€œView payouts on Stripe” on your dashboard to see your balance, schedule, and history any time. Your bank details are entered on Stripe's own page and stay with Stripe β€” SongBash never sees or stores your bank account number.

How do I run a gig?

Create your session in advance and share your QR code and/or link with your audience. On jam day, once you start playing a requested song, accept it (the tip is charged on accept), decline the rest, and mark songs Played as you go.

What if I accept a song but can't play it?

Only accept a song if you can 100% play it β€” if not, decline it. If you accepted one and truly can't play it, you can refund the guest from your Stripe dashboard.
